OVERVIEW
Town Council is comprised of the Mayor and four Council Members, each of whom are elected at-large and oversee various aspects of Town life. Members of Town Council serve a four-year term, with elections conducted every two years allowing for staggered terms. Together they constitute the legislative body of the Town. The Town of Meggett operates under the Mayor-Council form of government.FORMAL MEETING AGENDAS & MINUTES
The purpose of the meeting agendas are to provide an outline for the orderly and efficient conduct of council meetings. The agenda sets forth the specific items of business (generally ordinances and resolutions) and the order in which Town Council will consider them. Town Council is pleased to provide information packets of its formal meetings including agendas, minutes, and support material for each discussion item listed on the agenda.

Tommy Butler
ABOUT THE COUNCIL MEMBERCouncil Member Butler moved to Meggett in 1977, becoming the third generation to live on the family farm. A graduate of St. Paul’s Academy (formerly Country Day), he has a Bachelor of Science degree in Administrative Management from Clemson University. He retired from his position as the Charleston Regional Office Audit Manager for the South Carolina Department of Revenue. Elected to the Town Council in 2000, he graduated from the Institute of Government for Elected Municipal Officials in 2003. Tom Hutto
ABOUT THE COUNCIL MEMBERTom Hutto was born in Charleston and has science degrees from the College of Charleston and the University of Georgia. He and his wife, Barbara Neale, moved to Meggett in 1994. Since 1987, he has worked as an environmental consultant with The GEL Group (formerly General Engineering) serving industrial, municipal, and commercial clients. His professional roles include technical and regulatory evaluations, project management, personnel management, and business management. He is excited to have the opportunity to use this blend of experience to serve the residents of Meggett. In addition to his duties on Town Council, Council Member Hutto also serves on the Board of the Berkeley, Charleston, Dorchester Council of Governments; on the Executive Committee of the Lowcountry Land Trust; and on the County of Charleston Community Development Advisory Board.Vertical Divider - Home > Government > Town Council Members
Keith McCarty, Mayor Pro Tem
ABOUT THE COUNCIL MEMBERKeith McCarty was born and raised in Norris, Tennessee. He received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History from the University of Tennessee in 1983 and a Law Degree from the University of Memphis in 1986. After law school Keith served in the US Navy as a member of the Judge Advocate General’s Corp. He was stationed in Charleston from 1986 through 1990. After the Navy, he and wife Lea Ann moved back to Tennessee. Angela Watts
ABOUT THE COUNCIL MEMBERAngela Watts was born and raised in Charleston, South Carolina. She has been an active resident of Meggett since 2009. Angie has over 30 years of business management experience with our State Government. She excels at public speaking, strategic planning, team building, team leadership, as well as program and change management. She and her husband, Mike Watts, have been married for over 25 years and together they have two daughters, Kayla and Morgan.Vertical Divider
