Below is a message from the SCDOT, regarding the replacement of the Meggett Creek Bridge. Please feel free to call Meggett Town Hall at 843.889.3622 with any questions. The South Carolina Department of Transportation is currently replacing the bridge along SC-165 over Meggett Creek in Charleston County. This bridge is rated as being structurally deficient and therefore qualifies for Federal Bridge Replacement funding. Notable construction activities are expected to begin August 26, 2019. Pending any delays due to weather conditions, fabricator delays, etc., the bridge should be reopened to traffic by approximately November 29, 2019.
In order to minimize the construction duration, project costs, and impacts to property owners and the environment, the road will be closed during construction. Traffic will be detoured to S-10-390 (Toogoodoo Road), S-10-1159 (Wilson Road), S-10-128 (Ethel Post Office Road), and back to SC 165. The net additional detour length will be approximately 1.89 miles for through traffic. A site map of the detour is available here. The SCDOT District Six Office has notified locally affected businesses and schools via letter advising them of this construction. If you have any questions, you may contact District Construction/Maintenance Engineer Kevin Turner, P.E. at (843) 746-6726. Comments are closed.
